Well, lets get right down to the nitty gritty and the question most of you want to know right off the bat.

Q: How much are your puppies?
A: My puppies are $2500 period. My dogs come from very expensive and legitimate Coton stock. Health testing and vet visits to make sure my dogs are healthy are quite expensive. A lot of these costs are passed onto the buyers.

Q: Are you a kennel?
A: No, I am not a "kennel", nor am I a puppy mill or backyard breeder.  I follow the standards for ethical breeding outlined in the USACTC  and many other Coton club guidelines. My dogs are all health tested yearly to ensure I am not passing along anything to the puppies. I also do voluntary testing of my dogs as well. I own three Cotons. My first Coton, Gracie, is not in the breeding program. I have one breeding pair. Eden and Gabriel. They are raised in my home not in cages. They live in the house amongst my family. In fact, they ALL sleep in our bed!

Q: Are Cotons easy to groom?
A: Honestly, no at times they can be very time consuming. The coat needs to be brushed daily, especially when the adult coat starts to fill in. If you feel you do not have time for that. I recommend you keep your dogs coat cut short. Many Pet quality owners do this. Show quality owners will need to keep the coat long and well cared for if they will be attending conformation shows.

Q: Male or Female?
A: Well, that depends on you. I like males because with my experience they seem to be sweeter and not "moody". Females are often sweet on you one minute and the next they want nothing to do with you and often want to get into a power struggle. However, there are females that are not like this, there is no definite guarantee on what your dog may choose to be like. Cotons, by nature are very loving and kind though.

Q: Don't males mark everything?
A: No, not always, if a male is neutered early it is unlikely that they will do this behavior. This is another reason why it is VERY important to have your male dogs neutered early!

Q: Are Cotons hard to train?
A: No, there are NO dogs that are hard to train. There are only people who fail to spend the appropriate amount of time with their puppy on training. Some puppies need more than others, there is no guarantee on how much time you will need to spend with your puppy on training. Be consistent with your training and your puppy will do just fine. We keep our puppies until 9 weeks, sometimes more. They receive essential learning from their mother during the 6 to 9 week range. This helps ensure that your puppy is ready to be a part of your home.

Q: What do you require of new owners?
A: Well, first of all, you must be responsible. We want to know about your family and what your life is like at home. For instance, "Do you have children?" "Are you older and will have trouble with a very playful puppy?". It is important as I would not want to place a playful, ambitious puppy with an older couple who may not be able to handle it. A shy puppy does not do well in a home with a lot of children or a very busy home. There is a questionnaire to be filled out along with the deposit that will help me decide which puppies are best suited for your home. Do not be afraid of this process, an ethical breeder will do what is best for the puppy. After you are home, we welcome questions if you need help. Also, we love to receive updates and pictures.

Q: Do you do health testing on the parents?
A: Yes, my dogs have been health tested and I also do further voluntary testing to ensure I am not passing anything that could harm the puppies.

Q: Are your puppies registered?
A: Yes, your puppy will be registered with either the UKC or the AKC FSS. Most likely, the UKC. You receive your papers that must be sent in for permanent registration once I receive a copy of your vet certificate stating that the puppy has been spayed/neutered.

Q: Do the puppies have a health guarantee:
A: Yes, I offer a two year health guarantee. The details are within the sales contract and are between the buyer and seller.

Q: Are the puppies vaccinated?
A: Yes, the puppies will receive vaccinations, deworming and dew claws removed before going to their forever homes. PLEASE NOTE: The puppies will not yet be completely protected from Parvo Virus, so it is important that your puppy be limited to going in or on public areas until they have had the entire puppy series of vaccines.
